Why Downtown DeLand Is One of My Favorite Spots for Sessions

Let’s talk about one of my all-time favorite places to shoot: Downtown DeLand. It’s charming, colorful, full of character, and best of all, it’s only 10 minutes from where I live. So yes, I know it like the back of my hand.

Whether you’re booking a couples session, senior photos, family portraits, Downtown DeLand checks every box.

So Many Backdrops, One Walkable Location

This spot gives us so much variety without needing to drive around or do outfit changes in your car (been there, done that). In just a few blocks, we’ve got:

  • Brick buildings and vintage storefronts for that classic, timeless look

  • Colorful murals, cool textures, and hidden alleyways that add a little edge

  • Green spaces, ivy-covered walls, and soft light for those romantic, dreamy shots

  • The cutest coffee shops and small businesses that feel like real-life magazine moments

And just a short walk from downtown, there’s Stetson University, with its oak-lined walkways and picture-perfect architecture. It's seriously a hidden gem for sessions, especially if you want a mix of classic and natural vibes.

Golden Hour Hits Different Here

Downtown DeLand at golden hour? Unreal. The light hits the buildings just right and gives your photos that soft, golden glow we all love. It’s cozy and cinematic, and I’ll make sure we chase the best light together.

It’s Relaxed, Real, and Reflects You

I love sessions here because they never feel stiff or overdone. We can walk, talk, laugh, and create while exploring a space that feels lived in and full of stories. It’s easy, comfortable, and low-key perfect kind of like a mini adventure.

Bonus: it's dog-friendly (and you know I’m always team "bring the pup").

Let’s Capture Something Beautiful in Downtown DeLand

Living just 10 minutes away means I know all the hidden gems, the best lighting spots, and the perfect little nooks that give your photos that extra something. If you're looking for a session that feels relaxed, fun, and completely true to you—this is the place.
